A particularly stunning view in St. Johns-in-the-Vale in the Lake District. With an added touch of a lifestyle I could definitely enjoy. A late afternoon stroll with the perfect views of Cumbria all around.
I love painting with Oils. Painting wildlife is something I’ve always done in my paintings but never in such a focused way. I enjoyed creating this new range, the detail and character of each animal. For my usual paintings I love the glow of a fire shining out of a window or a doorway in the distance. It makes me want to be inside warming in front of a roaring fire. For me there’s nothing like the magic of a landscape. The comforting warmth and cosiness that’s hard to describe but a real draw to paint, something you feel inside. My style of painting is one which has developed over time and is still evolving with each new painting. Also I try to capture a sense of realism, of being there, without being a slave to photo realism. I think its also important to keep pushing the boundaries of what your comfortable with, not to settle into a formula of what works.
