just finished number 1 of my winter wonderland trilogy

Homeward Bound my latest painting to join the collectors edition range and one i really enjoyed. all my favourite elements: snow, the moon, lit windows and an old boy out with his dog…

Day 3 painting rocks, I’m happy with the mountains so far. and the composition is natural and easy on this one leads your eye in nicely

always a favourite of mine is the view across striding edge from hellvelyn, in any season this is a stunning vista…

Finally after just over 300 hours work, its finished and on the wall in the Gallery. this has been a monster of a painting to complete, possibly the most complex and challenging one to date. But i am pretty happy with the final result, i don’t usually paint big ones but with a scene like this i felt it really justified the size.

This is just a basic block in, there is little relevance to what it will look like when finished but gives a road map to go by for the broad shapes

on the board at the moment…

after much deliberation I went with a darker background for my kingfisher, I felt it made the vibrant colours of the bird pop a lot more, much more striking….

St. Johns in the Vale.

a beautiful part of the lake district, i think this snowy painting came out really well, i love the effect of the moon coming through the layer of clouds.

Milbeck farm getting an autumn coat, this is going to be a big ‘un… I’m only just fitting it on the easel. but enjoying the colours and the challenge. you all know how I love painting bricks lol… wonder how many are in this painting so far…
